JISC

Membership of the HEPI Partnership enables JISC to engage with key strategic players in the HE sector.

The mission of JISC, the Joint Information Systems Committee (which is funded by the Higher Education Funding bodies in the UK) is to provide world-class leadership in the innovative use of Information and Communications Technology to support education and research. JISC delivers its mission through:

  • Innovative and sustainable ICT infrastructure, services and practice that support institutions in meeting their mission
  • promoting the development, uptake and effective use of ICT to support learning and teaching
  • promoting the development, uptake and effective use of ICT to support research
  • promoting the development, uptake and effective use of ICT within institutions and in support of their management
  • developing and implementing a programme to support institutions' engagement with the wider community.

JISC has a budget of around £120 million per annum for such activities. JISC is currently reviewing its strategy and will publish a new version in December 2009.
