HEPI Trustees announce appointment of new Director

  • 1 August 2013

The Trustees of the Higher Education Policy Institute (HEPI) are pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Nick Hillman to succeed Mr Bahram Bekhradnia as Director of the Institute from 1 January 2014. Mr Hillman is currently Advisor to the Rt. Hon. David Willetts MP, Minister of State for Universities and Science.

Sir Graeme Davies, Chairman of the Trustees, stated: “The Trustees are very pleased that Mr Hillman will be taking up the Directorship in the New Year. He has an exceptional knowledge of the higher education sector in all its aspects.   I am confident that he will build on the outstanding national and international reputation established by the current Director over the ten years in which he has led the Institute.”

Commenting on his appointment as HEPI Director, Mr Hillman said: “I am delighted to be joining HEPI at such a key moment because it is unquestionably Britain’s best think tank for higher education issues.  The present Director will be a hard act to follow as he leaves the organisation in great shape. Building on Bahram’s legacy, I have three particular priorities. First, I think it is crucial to maintain HEPI’s reputation for robust independent analysis. Secondly, it is important that HEPI continues to provide a forum for well-informed debate both at interesting events and online. Thirdly, I want to encourage a stream of smart ideas – from a wide array of sources – for tackling the key policy challenges.”
