The Higher Education Policy Institute / Higher Education Academy 2015 Student Academic Experience Survey includes questions on class size, attendance, the qualifications of lecturers, contact hours and total workload, written assignments, student wellbeing, information and policy options. It was published at an exclusive Policy Briefing day for organisations that support HEPI on 4th June 2015.

Somewhat disappointed with the survey design
I was interested to see the student perspective on what they value in academic staff:
#1- expertise in their professional or industrial field.
#2- have received training in how to teach;
#3- currently active researchers;
But this result reveals little about the level of importance given to each of these characteristics. They could all be regarded as important or all as regarded as trivial. Too bad the survey did not ask respondents to rate each characteristic on a Likert scale (“not important at all” to “very important”)
