Launch of the new HEPI / Unite Students Applicants to Higher Education Survey Report, Tuesday 4th July

  • 4 July 2017
  • 9.30am - 1pm
  • The British Academy, London SW1Y

The Higher Education Policy Institute is working in partnership with Unite Students (http://www.unitestudents.com/)  on the first major survey of the views of applicants to higher education. Students are regularly asked for their opinions, but there are far fewer robust and public sources of intelligence on the views of applicants, which HEPI and Unite Students are keen to address. The HEPI/Unite Students survey will cover a broad range of issues from applicants’ motivations for going to university; their expectations of and preparedness for university life; as well as their thoughts on life after HE and their career aspirations.

We will be launching the findings from Reality Check: A report on university applicants’ attitudes and perceptions at the British Academy on Tuesday 4th July from 10am to 1pm (including lunch). HEPI and Unite Students will be providing an exclusive presentation of the key findings from the survey followed by a panel discussion with speakers including:

  • Anne-Marie Canning, Director of Widening Participation, King’s College London;
  • Sonette Schwartz, Principal, Brockhill Park Performing Arts College;
  • Chris Ramsey, Headmaster of The King’s School, Chester and head of the HMC/GSA Universities Committee; and
  • James Seymour, Director of Admissions, University of Buckingham (formerly Director of UK Student Recruitment and Outreach, Aston University).
