HEPI / Oracle Roundtable: ‘Diversity, Equality and Inclusion in Higher Education’

  • 4 March 2019
  • 11.30am - 2.30pm
  • British Academy, London SW1

Organised by HEPI, with the support of Oracle (a HEPI Partner) the roundtable will aim to provide a platform for senior colleagues in HE institutions across the UK to share ideas, strategies and best practices that are being used to address imbalances in diversity, equality and inclusion at all levels across higher education including leadership, academic and student representation.

Guest speakers include Professor Kalwant Bhopal, Professor of Education and Social Justice, Professorial Research Fellow and Deputy Director of the Centre for Research in Race and Education in the School of Education at the University of Birmingham and Gary Loke, Director of Knowledge, Insights, Innovation and Delivery at Advance HE.

Topics to discuss include:

  • How do we ensure that universities bring out the best in all their students and staff?
  • What best practices and partnerships can be shared amongst universities and business organisations respectively to encourage greater diversity across students, staff and academics and the workplace?
  • How do we retain staff, students and academics from diverse and minority groups who may feel under represented or undervalued?
  • And, more specifically, in view of the Government consultation to extend mandatory reporting beyond gender to consider the ethnicity pay gap – are universities in a position to deliver favourable results?
