2020 HEPI / Advance HE Parliamentary Breakfast Seminar: Challenging the Status Quo – who governs the governors?

  • 26 February 2020
  • 8.30am - 10.15am
  • House of Commons, London

On 26 February 2020, HEPI and Advance HE will host the second in the 2020 series of parliamentary breakfast seminars. In a new era of regulation, and with the higher education sector facing unprecedented political scrutiny, there is mounting pressure for university governance to be more robust and effective. Have we got the balance right between government, regulators and governing bodies? Has the sector been too complacent and slow when it comes to improving higher education governance? How can we ensure greater diversity among governing bodies? And what lessons can HE learn from others sectors?

Speakers

Monica Chadha, Vice Chair of Council, Queen Mary University of London

Jacqui McKinley, Chief Executive, Centre for Public Scrutiny

Chris Sayers, Chair, Committee of University Chairs
