David Maguire is currently Interim Principal and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Dundee. Previously, he was Vice-Chancellor at the University of Greenwich between 2011 and 2019. He has also worked in the universities of Birmingham City, Lancaster, Leicester, Plymouth and Redlands (California). Education at the University of Bristol and the University of Exeter, David has worked extensively in the field of computer mapping and geographic information systems.
Prior to returning to academia he spent 20 years working in the IT industry as Chief Scientist and Director of Products for a global computer software and services company.
David is currently Chair of Jisc, the Higher and Further Education expert body for digital technology, services and content.
His current academic interests include geographic information science and higher education policy and practice.
