On Tuesday 17 June 2025, HEPI and Lloyds Bank will host a roundtable dinner in Liverpool looking at ‘Drivers of Growth: Opportunities for universities to enhance their civic role and support national prosperity’.

The dinner will bring together colleagues in the higher education sector and policymakers from across the region.

Questions we expect to explore:

  • What does ‘civic’ mean to universities and how integral should civic activity be to their purpose?
  • How does universities’ outlook need to change in the context of a greater push for regionalisation?
  • What regional relationships and partnerships are most valuable to drive local growth?
  • How are universities balancing the inclusion of local impact in their strategies versus other priorities?
  • Are university start-ups and scale ups given enough support and the tools for success?
  • Are financial sustainability challenges a risk to place-based impact?

Please note this dinner is invitation-only. For any queries, please contact Emma [email protected] or Carole [email protected]
