HEPI / Elsevier Research Conference, ‘UK Research Looking Forward’, Wednesday 1 March 2023

Building on our programme of work on research, HEPI is working in partnership with Elsevier to host a half-day conference looking to the future of research in UK higher education, on Wednesday 1 March 2023 from 9.30am (registration) to 2.30pm (with lunch included). 

This half-day conference will provide a forum for senior leaders and policymakers from across the sector to discuss a range of key issues relation to the future of UK research, with sessions looking at: 

  • Reflections on REF 2021 and the path to reach 2.4% 
  • The security and resilience of UK research in an ever-changing global world order
  • The kind of research culture that enables researchers to take risks

Speakers include:

  • Heather Bovill, Deputy Director for Surveys and Economic Indicators, Office for National Statistics;
  • Professor Dame Jessica Corner, Executive Chair, Research England;
  • Henry Hughes, Chief Technology Officer – Cyber Security, Jisc
