***UPDATE: A recording of the webinar is available below***
In July 2023 HEPI published a report by Professor Dame Nicola Dandridge, Professor of Practice at the University of Bristol and former Chief Executive of the Office for Students, on the relationship between teaching and research in UK universities and whether it matters.
The report considers the different approaches taken by higher education institutions, students, academics and policymakers towards the relationship between teaching and research. It explores the ways in which the relationship between the two can both add significant value to – and have a transformative impact on – students.
On Monday 6 November HEPI, with support from the University of Bristol, is hosting a free webinar to further consider and debate the findings of the report. After a welcome from HEPI Director Nick Hillman, Chair of the webinar, and a presentation of the report findings from Professor Dame Nicola Dandridge, we will host a panel of speakers including:
- Professor Nicola Dandridge, Professor of Practice at the University of Bristol and former Chief Executive of the Office for Students
- Sir David Bell, Vice-Chancellor, University of Sunderland
- Professor Tansy Jessop, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Education, University of Bristol
- Martha Longdon, Faculty Education & Student Experience Manager, University of Nottingham
