KCL / HEPI fringe event at the Conservative Party Conference, Tuesday 1 October 2024

Join HEPI and the Policy Institute at King’s College London on Tuesday 1 October at the Conservative Party Conference for a fringe event to discuss ‘What is the Conservative approach to UK higher education now?’

This session will explore the current challenges and opportunities facing the higher education sector in the UK from a Conservative perspective.

The event will take place from 10:30am to 12:00pm at The Scherzo, Hyatt Regency Hotel, Birmingham B1 2JZ.

Confirmed panellists are:

  • Professor Dame Alison Wolf, Sir Roy Griffiths Professor of Public Sector Management, King’s College London
  • The Rt Hon Jo Johnson, Chairman of FutureLearn, President’s Professorial Fellow at King’s College London, former Minister of State for Universities and Science (2015) and Minister of State for Universities, Research and Innovation (2016 to 2018)
  • the Rt Hon. the Lord David Willetts (former Minister for Universities and Science and President of the Resolution Foundation)
  • Nick Hillman, Director, HEPI and
  • Alex Stanley, Vice-President Higher Education, NUS.

The seminar will take place in the secure Zone – the session will be free to attend for pass holders and refreshments will be available. Passes for the Conservative Party Conference will need to be secured via the official channel, not through HEPI.
