Educating the ‘COVID generation’

On Thursday 7 September HEPI and Unite Students will hold a breakout session at the UUK Annual Conference in Manchester.

The majority of this year’s new intake experienced the pandemic in their mid-teens. They missed out on social and educational experiences and early opportunities for independence, and their needs and expectations reflect this. Drawing on the recent Unite Students / HEPI 2023 Student Applicant Index and the experience of the panel, this session explores the needs of this cohort of students, how they will challenge their universities and how they could change the world.

Speakers:

Chair: Nick Hillman, HEPI Director

  • Jenny Shaw, HE External Engagement Director, Unite Students
  • Samantha Bronheim, Former Union Affairs Officer, University of Manchester
  • Professor Katie Normington, Vice-Chancellor, De Montfort University
  • Professor Nic Beech, Vice-Chancellor, Middlesex University

Universities UK conference delegates are welcome to attend.
