The value of higher education has been fiercely debated in recent years and the Government are committed to cracking down on ‘low value’ courses. Many criticise the use of existing metrics to define value, such as graduate salaries and the Teaching Excellence Framework, but, to date, no better alternative has been identified. Efforts to measure the added benefit of higher education through the learning gain project were unsuccessful. This HEPI Expert Policy Seminar will provide the opportunity for colleagues to consider how we could better define the value of higher education and which metrics we could be using to demonstrate the broader picture of value.
