Press briefing on the 2022 Student Academic Experience Survey

On Wednesday 8 June 2022, Advance HE and HEPI jointly hosted an embargoed press briefing on the 2022 Student Academic Experience Survey at One Great George Street, London.

The Advance HE / HEPI Student Academic Experience Survey provides the most comprehensive data on the academic experience of full-time undergraduates in UK institutions, providing each year new data on what full-time students think about a wide range of issues.

The 2022 Survey included the standard questions asked each year on value-for-money perceptions, wellbeing and contact hours / workload. In addition, it also included new questions on loneliness, free speech and the balance between in-person and online learning – making more use of students’ ‘free text’ comments to look at what students really think. The Survey has become a firm feature of the higher education policy landscape, featuring regularly in ministerial speeches and official reports because it reaches into places other surveys do not go.

The results of the 2022 Survey were launched at the 2022 HEPI Annual Conference ‘Challenges for the future? The student experience, good governance and institutional autonomy’, which was held at One Great George Street on Thursday 9 June 2022.
