The focus of this roundtable is to explore the relationship between open access research and policymaking.
The concept of evidence-based or evidence-informed policymaking has been around for decades, allowing policymakers to situate and justify proposed interventions on the bedrock of a vast corpus of validated research. We argue that evidence-based policymaking is not currently the norm, and propose exploring whether removing one commonly cited barrier – access – would change the status quo.
