As the cost-of-living crisis makes student life more challenging, it is vital to understand what financial challenges mean for students and how to respond. Current levels of maintenance support are not based on what students really need. This means many students fall short, and cannot fully participate in every aspect of higher education.

On Thursday 9th May, HEPI and TechnologyOne will launch landmark new research on student maintenance support. This research will, for the first time, seek to answer the question of what students need to have a minimum acceptable standard of living. At this HEPI webinar, we will share our research and invite a wider discussion on the design of a new system of maintenance support.

Speakers to include:

  • Katherine Hill, Research Fellow, Centre for Research in Social Policy (CRSP) at Loughborough University
  • Josh Freeman, Policy Manager, HEPI
  • Professor Jane Harrington, Vice-Chancellor, University of Greenwich
  • Nyah Lowe, President at Bangor Students’ Union
  • Nick Hillman, HEPI Director (Chair)
