***UPDATE: A recording is available below***
On Monday 27 January 2025 from 2pm to 3pm, HEPI and Jisc are jointly hosting a webinar looking at collaboration in the sector.
As the HE sector navigates financial challenges threatening its long-term sustainability, it has become crucial for leaders in the sector to come together to explore potential solutions to support the efforts of the sector to address its challenges.
Jisc, in collaboration with KPMG, recently published a report , Collaboration for a sustainable future, laying out the case for how the sector would benefit from greater collaboration to enhance efficiencies, and outcomes across UK HE. The report offers insight into the culture of the sector in relation to collaboration from HE leaders themselves, and raises important questions, including whether deeper collaboration in digital, data and technology can co-exist with the competitive nature of UK higher education institutions? This topic has gained considerable traction in light of the Secretary of State for Education, the Rt Hon Bridget Phillipson’s, announcement about the higher education sector in late 2024.
The findings of the report challenge the traditional view that collaboration undermines institutional uniqueness, suggesting instead that strategic collaboration can drive efficiencies and enhance outcomes without compromising competitive advantages.
HEPI and Jisc are bringing together a panel of speakers, including:
- Liam Earney, Managing Director, HE and Research, Jisc
- Sam Sanders, Advisory Lead for Education Skills & Productivity, KPMG
- Steph Harris, Director of Strategy, Insight and Member Engagement, Universities UK
- Professor Sir Chris Husbands, former Vice-Chancellor at Sheffield Hallam University, former Chair of the TEF and author of HEPI report Four Futures: Shaping the future of higher education in England
- Chaired by Nick Hillman, HEPI Director
